I have been using the elph-sized hybrid camcorder Canon TX-1 for sometime now. While there are some focusing issues, I have been quite pleased with it.
One of the complaints many users of this camera have is that the video size are very large for 720P HD format. For example, a 3 minute HD clip will take about 700 MB of space. I have used VirtualDub to compress videos but it can only compress to about one third of the original size.
The best solution for this I have found is to convert the original video to DivX format. I am using Dr.Divx to encode to DivX format and hosting the HD videos on stage6.
Here are some sample videos. All videos are under 25 mb in size.
